Three hours to the west of Sydney, Australia, sits one of the most beautiful natural wonders
on the continent; the Blue Mountain National Park. Home to rocky formations, underground
caves and cascading waterfalls, the park provides a great break for outdoor fanatics and city
slickers alike.

The park takes its name from the colour of the mountain face which, if looked at from afar,
appears to have a blue tone to it. Similarly, the forest inside the park is home to blue
coloured eucalyptus trees and legend suggests this is the reasoning behind the parks name.
The park is home to multiple legends and tales have been passed down over the decades.
It’s believed that the Blue Mountains cradled the very first civilisation of man and traces of
such can be found in the Red Hands Cave where handprints can be found. Over the years,
researchers and archaeologists have discovered many artefacts from within the cave, and it
has quickly become a place of mystical wonder.

In 2000 the national park was given the UNESCO World Heritage title which further imprints
its historical importance. There’s no wonder why it’s received such a title though as the park
is brimming with walking trails, luscious green forest and breathtaking mountains.
Nature aside, the area is also home to multiple fine dining restaurants, vibrant nightclubs
and welcoming bars. There’s also an array of art galleries and museums allowing visitors to
have their culture and history fixes. Couples, groups, families and solo travellers alike can
enjoy exploring the national park where adventure awaits.
