Go for a walk over The Scenic World cableway of The Blue Mountains
The Three Sisters is one of the most important rock formations of The
Blue Mountains, and it has quickly become one of the National Park’s
biggest attractions. Thanks to the many surrounding viewpoints the rock
formation can be witnessed from all angles whether you’re down in the
valley or enjoying panoramic views from a height.
A cable car ride, or a wagon ride, across the mountains provides possibly
some of the best viewings of the Three Sisters. On your ride, you’ll enjoy
panoramic views of the valley and a birdseye view of Katoomba town.
The cableway tour is suitable for adults and children alike and really
provides fun for all the family as such, a visit to the Blue Mountains
National Park isn’t complete without enjoying a ride. The tour serves to
appreciate the beautiful landscapes of the park, and it heads past some of
the parks most notable attractions including Katoomba Waterfall and the
Jamison Valley and covers 720 metres of ground. If you want to enjoy the
ride almost alone, it’s best to ride the cable car on a weekday to avoid the
crowds.
Another fun tour for all the family is the Katoomba Scenic Skyway which
heads to Katoomba Scenic Walkway, an elevated promenade that
provides views across the old tropical jungle. This installation is home to
a souvenir shop and several restaurants to refuel at.
There are four stations to join the ride at, and each one provides a
different tour. From the Skyway, you begin by riding through the jagged
cliffs and thick jungle while being suspended at 270 metres high. This
unique experience is incomparable and offers 360 views of the park.
Additionally, you may also take the trolley car, the steepest air cableway
and the biggest in the southern hemisphere. This 510 meters tour
descends towards the Jamison Valley and has the best views of The
Three Sisters, The Orphan Stone, The Lonely Mountain and the Katoomba
waterfalls. If you’re still itching for an exhilarating experience, you can
take the railway down 310 metres of track. This ride dates back to 1878
and lasts roughly ten minutes. Whichever ride you choose to take you’re
guaranteed to have magnificent views of the beauty that is the Blue
Mountains, National Park.
