The Powerhouse Museum

Sydney is a diverse city that caters to all visitors so whether you come here as a
family, with your friends or as a solo traveller you’re bound to have a great time.
There are hundreds of extraordinary activities to enjoy in and around the city
including manicured gardens, educational museums and landmark attractions.
Among the many museums in Sydney, The Powerhouse is one of the most
representative of its area and is located just by Darling Harbor. The museum is
dedicated to the applied arts, science and techniques. Inside numerous
exhibitions are on show touching on different science subjects including the
conquest of space, electricity and ecology. The museum is also home to the
first steam locomotive of the country which dates back to 1854 and is a true
testament to Australian history.

The museum offers tours, exhibitions, performances, workshops and galleries
all of which are aimed at educating visitors through creativity. Some of the
exhibitions are permeant including the space transport section where you can
explore the recreated surface of that planet. There are some semi-permanent
exhibitions, one of which is the Sherlock Holmes exhibition which closes on
October 8 and another one about fashion called “The love is… Wedding
Australian fashion” which ends in April 2018.

The museum opens daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (except Christmas Day)
and the general entrance fee is 15 dollars for adults, and children up to 16 years
old can enter for free. There are discounts for students, old adults and other
promotions. Inside there is also a café and coffee shop for you to grab a quick
refreshment.
